Hey Leute ich stecke gerade in einem kleinen Dilemma. Ich befinde mich zurzeit in Cancun, Mexico und hatte geplant über die USA nach Sydney zu fliegen.

Mein Problem ist der alte nicht biometrische Passport der in den USA nicht akzeptiert wird. Dieser wird jedoch in Australien anerkannt wie ich hier gelesen habe und auch in der australischen Botschaft nachgefragt hatte.

Mir stehen nun zwei Optionen offen, entweder einen neuen Reisepass beantragen am besten im Expressverfahren, wobei ich leider nichts finden konnte wie lange sowas in Mexiko dauert. Wahrscheinlich 2-4 Wochen oder so?.

Die zweite Option ist ein Flug, der nicht über die USA nach Australien geht, jedoch finde ich da nicht so günstige Flüge und vorallem sind sie ziemlich lang zeitlich gesehen mit vielen umstiegen. Habt ihr da günstige Routen, die ihr mir empfehlen könnt?

Was vielleicht noch interessant sein könnte ist, wenn ich meinen italienischen Pass gegen einen deutschen Austausche. Ist es möglich, die Passnummer vom neuen Pass in mein Work and Holiday Visa für Australien umzuschreiben, welches auf meinem alten Pass angemeldet ist oder ist mein Visa dann ungültig und ich muss ein neues beantragen?

Ich würde echt gerne in die USA zum Black Friday, aber da es schon in 20 Tagen ist und ich kein Passport habe der dort akzeptiert wird, wird das wohl nichts. Außer der Expressvorgang geht schnell. Am Montag werde ich nochmal in der Botschaft anrufen und nachfragen. Die normale Austellungszeit in Cancun für einen deutschen Reisepass beäträgt zwei Monate laut Aussage der Botschaft hier in Mexiko.

Ohne biometrischen Pass hast Du nicht allzu viele Optionen. Ein Flug über Europa ist irre weit. Das nahe liegendste ist, über Kanada zu fliegen. Das kostet knapp 1200€. Die schnellsten Verbindungen dauern ungefähr 35 Stunden und gehen ab Mexico City, wobei man da fast 14 Stunden Aufenthalt in Vancouver hat. Von Cancun aus geht es auch, dauert aber noch länger bzw. erfordert eine Übernachtung in Kanada, was angesichts der langen Strecke vielleicht gar nicht so schlecht ist.

Ob man für Kanada inzwischen auch einen biometrischen Pass braucht, kann ich allerdings nicht sagen.

Ich bin mit meinen Nicht-biometrischen deutschen Reisepass 2 Mal in den USA umgestiegen (2011/2012). Hatte dabei nie Probleme. Wahrscheinlich ist das mit dem italienischen Pass anders oder?

Biometrische deutsche Reisepässe: In biometrischen Reisepässen ist ein digitales Porträt gespeichert und seit dem 1. November 2007 zwei Fingerabdrücke des Inhabers. Die vorher ausgestellten biometrischen, maschinenlesbaren Reisepässe ohne Fingerabdruck bleiben weiter gültig.
